Dec 26, 2023

ROCHESTER — Former Rochester Treasurer Kory Lydon has accepted a role as treasurer of the town of Duxbury, leaving Rochester after over two years of service.

Ashling McLoughlin was appointed as the town’s new treasurer at the Rochester Select Board’s Dec. 26 meeting. She will start on Jan. 8, according to Rochester Town Administrator Glenn Cannon.

Formerly, McLoughlin served as the assistant treasurer for the town of Mattapoisett.

Diana Knapp will take on the role of interim treasurer in Rochester until McLoughlin starts in early January.

“We interviewed the best three [applicants] and Ashling certainly showed herself to be the best of that group,” said Cannon. “Her references were outstanding, many people vouched for her.”

Cannon added that Mattapoisett Town Administrator Mike Lorenco endorsed McLoughlin for the position.
